Prototyping is an exploratory design team. We design software to explore what new hardware could bring to our current and future products. Our job is to invent and propose new features and sometimes completely new products. Over the past decade, we have incubated products such as iPad, Pencil and Apple TV Siri Remote. We pioneered the force and tactile feel for multi-touch trackpads, iPhone and Apple Watch. We have been instrumental in the interface design and development of multi-camera systems, LiDAR, TrueDepth, Face ID, Animoji and depth photography. Prototype. You will create interactive prototypes in close collaboration with designers. The prototypes will include custom interfaces with multi-step non-linear interactions, 3D graphics, and many, many settings for experimenting with different behaviors. You will build these prototypes using Apple’s APIs and frameworks and deploy these prototypes internally on Apple devices with new and unstable hardware and software. We often prefer to quickly prototype an experience rather than “build the real thing,” but it’s important to know when a component deserves to be refined and made reusable.
To integrate. You will work with experimental in-house algorithms and frameworks. This will often require Swift, Objective-C and C++. You will bridge the gap between our engineer and design collaborators to help shape API and algorithm development.

At Apple, the base salary is part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base salary range for this role is $130,000 – $242,000 and your base salary will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become Apple shareholders by participating in Apple employee discretionary stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary limited unit stock awards and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if they voluntarily participate in the Apple Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
