India’s Data Center management team is getting bigger from Amazon. Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in as many specific fields as possible is required for this position at Amazon Data Services India Private Limited (ADSL). The location of this position will be discussed, as there may be openings in multiple locations in India.
Within ADSIPL’s own operated Data Centers in India, this position serves as the primary operational support resource. This position will serve as the central point of ownership and accountability for the “hands-on” management of ADSIPL’s portfolio of data centers in India’s mechanical, electrical, and other departments. The critical infrastructure that supports IT operations in the Indian Data Center space will be the overall responsibility of this position. Event management, incident management, problem management, change management, and cost and contract management will also be included. The management of relationships with landlords, critical facility vendors, the Data Center Construction team, the Data Center Operations team, Technical Program Managers, the Security team, and the Logistics team in India will also be included in this. The position will necessitate rotating shifts, scheduled weekend work support, and 24-hour on-call. The location of this position will be discussed, as there may be openings in multiple locations in India.
SME fields and primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Maintenance and Operations:
- Ownership of every change, incident, or problem that occurs in the Data Center, from beginning to end. You will also be in charge of ensuring that post-mortems, root-cause analyses, and subsequent actions to resolve issues are completed.
- In charge of planning and carrying out repairs and maintenance on site-critical facility infrastructure or a data center in the company’s best interest.
- In charge of managing inventory and assets.
- Create and maintain all technical documentation, including method statements, standard operating procedures, emergency response procedures, and preventive maintenance plans.
- Best-in-class operating procedures should be used to ensure uniformity and standardization. Skills in technical writing and automation): Acquire a comprehensive understanding of the design intention, operational alternatives, and emergency plans for all Data Center systems.
- Control the financial and cost control, code and regulatory compliance, personnel management, staff training, and development, health and safety, local statutory requirements, environmental and energy management, and engineering aspects of the Data Centers.
- Create and distribute regular engineering reports and make certain that contracted deliverables, such as SLAs and KPIs, are adhered to.
- Inform Amazon employees and vendor critical facilities management teams of operating philosophies, technical information, objectives, and expectations.
- Assisting in the hands-on operation of the facility when necessary (for example, installing new equipment, removing old equipment, replacing broken equipment, conducting internal audits, etc.)
- Supervise the execution of corrective action plans and the efficient and prompt conclusion of technical compliance audits. Perform yearly functional surveys with an emphasis on consistency with Amazon principles and all pertinent administrative necessities. ( Audits).
Manage the portfolio of Energy/Environmental Management Programs’ creation and implementation. Keep up with developments in the data center industry.
