JOB SUMMARY:\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Senior Cost Accountant performs various cost accounting reporting functions for the accounting department. In this capacity, he\/she interacts with the other National Accounting and Purchasing Administration personnel, as well as division personnel to ensure the integrity of the accounting information. Additionally, this position will be proficient in the General Ledger Accountant functions. Finally, he\/she will understand the implications of non-lot level accounting and work to resolve non-lot staging issues in a timely manner.<\/p>\n

The Senior Cost Accountant is a member of the accounting department. The Accounting Department consists of: Controller, Assistant Controller\/Accounting Manager, Senior Cost Accountant, and General Ledger Accountant.<\/p>\n

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\u00a0<\/p>\n

While there may be some division specific tasks included, the following is a list of primary responsibilities the Senior Cost Accountant will become proficient in and will be held accountable for the timely and accurate completion of:<\/p>\n

Technical<\/p>\n

Schedule 35 and Variable contribution closed home analysis
\nRecording and tracking OBS, financing arrangements and land purchases
\nVariable contribution backlog analysis
\nProject set up and maintenance
\nCost to complete analysis for all inventory
\nDue diligence tracking and reporting
\nInventory management, including 11A cleanup and WIP reports
\nFirst review of general ledger accountant work product, as directed
\nPrepare pre-sweep and 5 month sweep of direct construction; Identify and communicate trends
\nAbandonment accrual and\/or adjustments as necessary
\nReview offsite development budgets (Schedule 14) and applicable budget revisions
\nReview construction variance account and communicate trends
\nReview model upgrade budgets (Schedule 17) and applicable budget revisions
\nAssist with Accounting Manager\/Assistant Controller duties, as directed
\nReview of remote check requests and other weekly check requests
\nProperty tax analysis and accrual
\nIT exception reports review and analysis
\nLag accrual for direct construction
\nRebate tracking
\nCapitalized interest analysis and accrual
\nAccount reconciliation preparation and analysis
\nMicrosoft Excel Skills (pivot tables, formulas, etc)
\nInventory cost-allocation maintenance
\nAssist in the preparation of audit support requests
\nUtility and other offsite receivable set up and tracking
\nBond\/Deposit exoneration and tracking
\nPrepare gain\/loss analysis for land sales
\nQuarter end inventory reporting
\nOther special projects, as required<\/p>\n

Non-Technical<\/p>\n

Training of General Ledger Accountants
\nAbility to effectively communicate with NAPA and division personnel
\nGood communication skills, works well with people, positive attitude, meets deadlines\u00a0
\nMay be required to work overtime as necessary<\/p>\n
