This job is in the Accounting family (Department), which includes positions the duties of which are to advise on, administer, supervise, or perform professional, technical, or related clerical work of an accounting, budget administration, related financial management, or similar nature.<\/p>\n

Pacific Metal Company is a metals service center. Purchased by Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co. (NYSE:RS) in 2002. Pacific Metal Company has 5 branches located in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana and the corporate office is in Oregon. PMC employs approximately 80 employees.<\/p>\n

JOB SUMMARY :<\/p>\n

Under the general supervision of the Controller, employee will be responsible for supporting the Pacific Metal Company Accounting Department in ensuring accuracy of financial reports, completing various accounting duties associated with day-to-day transactions, the month end general ledger close, monthly preparation\/review of accounting reconciliations\/schedules, and timely completion of various projects for our 5 locations.<\/p>\n

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\u00a0
\nResponsible for the overall accuracy and completeness of financial reporting and the application of proper accounting in accordance with company-wide policies and procedures.
\nProvide support to the controller and RSAC Accounting Department to ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly accounting close responsibilities as well as non-recurring projects.
\nResponsible for the month end close process, including, but not limited to: financial analysis, review and completion of general ledger entries, sub-ledger reconciliations, account analysis, bank reconciliations, cash receipts reconciliations, fixed assets, and inventory reserves.
\nDirect and regular communication with accounting personnel to research and resolve issues, provide accounting guidance as needed and answer questions related to financial statements, internal and external audit issues, and corporate reporting requirements.
\nSupport Controller in coordinating information needs of Legal, Tax, Human Resources, Operations, and other departments. Evaluate such information to ensure it is complete and accurate.
\nEnsure proper controls are in place and operating effectively at the branch locations and in the Corporate Office. Identify and evaluate risks. Implement changes as appropriate.
\nWork with Controller to implement and oversee any remediation or process changes necessary due to Internal Audit findings or other Corporate wide policies.
\nRecommend and implement improvements to processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.
\nParticipate and contribute to various projects as determined by the Controller including but not limited to: ERP system implementations and process efficiency\/improvement projects.
\nResponsibilities occasionally may require an adjusted work schedule and evening\/weekend hours in order to meet month-end close or project deadlines.<\/p>\n

Required Skills<\/p>\n

5 years of management experience within the accounting function, including accounts payable\/receivable experience, required.
\nBachelor degree required, degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
\nAbility to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively required.
\nUnderstanding of a broad range of Accounting concepts and principles required.
\nExcellent oral and written communication skills required.
\nStrong analytical and problem solving skills required.
\nAbility to make sound decisions based on a combination of factors including analysis, knowledge and experience, and judgment required.
\nHigh level of interpersonal skills and ability to initiate and maintain cooperative relationships with co-workers required.\u00a0
\nStrong computer proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft applications, particularly Microsoft Excel required.<\/p>\n
