Job Description
- As a Medical Billing and Coding Specialist, you will be responsible for analyzing medical records and assigning appropriate codes for billing and insurance purposes.
- Conduct thorough reviews of patient information, ensuring accuracy and compliance with coding regulations and standards.
- Translate medical procedures, diagnoses, and services into universal alphanumeric codes for billing purposes.
- Verify and update patient insurance information.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to obtain additional information necessary for accurate coding.
- Adhere to strict confidentiality standards to secure patient information.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy and efficiency in medical billing and coding procedures.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Billing and Coding Specialist or similar role.
- Proficiency in medical coding systems such as ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS.
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately analyze medical records.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines.
- Proficient in using electronic medical record (EMR) and billing software.
