NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Kanbar Institute of Film and Television, Graduate Division is searching for a full-time Assistant Professor in Screenwriting (tenure track) beginning in September 2025.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $80,000 – $120,000. This pay range represents base pay only (for 9 months) and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

Qualifications:

Candidates should have an on-going career as a screenwriter and a significant body of work of produced narrative films, episodic television and/or streaming platforms. While teaching experience at the university level is preferred, the demonstrable capacity to translate one’s professional experience into dynamic teaching is also acceptable. Evidence of artistic achievement is also required. In addition to having a significant body of professional creative work, the candidate will be prepared to participate fully in the program as well as in other functions of the University, as required. Faculty members will teach 5 courses per year, advise and mentor graduate students, and participate in departmental and/or school-wide committees. Ongoing professional work is encouraged and expected.
