Job Purpose

The Group Leader will be responsible for managing and providing leadership in the day-to-day running of a manufacturing cell. This position will report and assist the Production Manager in leading all aspects of the production process including personnel, safety, quality, efficiencies, raw materials, equipment, methods, operations, and costs. As shift manager have the responsibility to stop production pf products that do not conform to the required quality standard and specifications as per customers’ requirements.
The position will also successfully meet or exceed established standards for safety, quality, and productivity consistent with plant direction while ensuring the manufacture of products are within the specifications and meet or exceed customer expectations. You will be responsible for the training and development of all operators under your supervision. Ensuring that the operators are fully conversant with all operations within the designated area, creating multi-skilled operators.
The health & safety of all operators within your team will be your responsibility, this process will delivered to all new starter via liaising with the H&S Manager and by ensuring that all work instructions and risk assessments have been certified. You will also deputise for the Production Manager as and when required to do so.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Safety – To conduct job evaluation/risk assessments of all roles within designated manufacturing area. Implement and monitor/evaluate the 5’S condition daily by observing the process area and follow-up on abnormalities.

Quality – To ensure that all products are produced to the highest quality adhering to all “Work Instructions” To training and support the operators to achieving the appropriate standards.

Productivity – Initiate and lead the “continuous improvement” of Standardized Work. Ensure consistency of applications to Standardized Work. Identify “waste” in the process and eliminate. Guide and co-ordinate shift-to-shift consistency.

Training & Development -Training To ensure that all operators are fully trained on all jobs within the designated area, training matrix is updated to capture training records.

Administration/HR – Maintain Attendance records of all personnel under your supervision. Daily up keep of T&A System. Conduct Investigations and first Level Disciplinary in line with company hand book. Control holidays in your Area within the company guide lines.
