Objective:

The Product Engineer (PE) will partner with a Product Manager to successfully manage and grow their product line in anentrepreneurial environment within AutomationDirect. The PE is the product subject matter expertand works with suppliers on all technical aspects of product development, evaluation,new product introduction, and support through the product life cycle. Primary product ownership includes power/circuitprotection and motor control (industrial contactors and starter) products. The PE is a servantleader and works cross functionally with internal and external teams.

Responsibilities:

• Leverage your experience and product knowledge to select and assist in the development of the best products to grow the product line and meet customer’s needs

• Product ownership throughout the product life cycle

• Evaluate and test new products and technologies

• Support product through new product introductions, documentation, training, and second tier backline support (only during normal business hours)

• Life-cycle projects to improve product quality or lower product cost

• Supplier evaluation including product offering, technology roadmap, support capabilities, product packaging and barcoded labels

• Some scheduled domestic and international travel is required

Qualifications:

• Requires education in technical discipline with preference for BS in mechanical or electrical engineering OR at least 10 years of related experience

• Requires 6 years’ experience (10 years preferred) in industrial control & automation market.Preferred experience includes control engineer, product application, control system integration, technical support, and/or product design involving power/circuit protection or motor controls. Similar experience in related markets such as building automation and medical equipment may be considered

• Experience selecting or designing industrial control products such as industrial contactors, starters, circuit breakers and fuses is desirable.

• Experience with agency approvals (UL, CSA, CE, RoHS, etc.) or working knowledge of UL508A or NEC is desirable

• Experience with CAD such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc. is desirable

• Must possess self-confidence, organizational skills, time management skills and excellent communication skills

• Must also be self-starter that is able to work on and manage projects independently, meet deadlines and have excellent interpersonal skillsShow full descriptionCollapse
