Experienced transcriptionist for IMEs and record reviews

Industry: Private

Employment Type:- Full Time

Work Hours:-  8 Hours

Locations:- USA

Full Job Description:-

Do you have the knowledge and stamina to handle lengthy and complex IME dictations? Do you have experience in reading and understanding medical records? Do you know Microsoft Word inside and out? If so, we encourage you to apply for an independent contractor position as a medical transcriptionist with our company. See How to Apply below for requirements!

Ideal Candidate:

Successful transcriptionists who work with us are capable of understanding and following complex written instructions with minimal supervision and are able to use (or can successfully research how to use) Word’s advanced formatting features, including space between paragraphs, hanging indents, complicated tables, and the concept of keep-with-next formatting. You will also be responsible for populating data in report templates of varying complexity.

Please be aware that we do NOT transcribe simple clinic notes, short daily visit notes, or any similar reports. Reports are long and complicated, sometimes taking days to transcribe a single document. Also, if you consider yourself to be strictly a “visual learner” who has difficulty following written instructions, you will not be a good fit for this position. If you are seeking a “typical” medical transcription gig, this is not it! We transcribe legal reports that contain medical terminology. However, if you think you have what it takes, we look forward to reviewing your resume and your testing materials.

Job Details: This is position is for straight medical transcription of IMEs as an independent contractor. Work includes transcription as well as template setup and specific formatting operations to be carried out on each report, varying by client. Reports range in size from a few pages to 100 pages or more, all transcribed and edited in Microsoft Word.

You can set your days/hours of work, but all work will have a deadline ranging from two to eight hours during your specified work schedule each day. (Of course, exceptions to daily turnaround times are granted for very long dictations.) Candidates must have outstanding grammar, punctuation, proofreading, and research skills, as well as be adept at creating complicated tables and utilizing Word’s higher-level formatting functions.

Equipment required includes high-speed internet with greater than 50 Mbps download speed (visit speedtest.net or speakeasy.net/speedtest to test your speed), USB foot pedal, Microsoft Word 2007 or later, and a program capable of playing DSS voice files (like Express Scribe).

Location: This is a fully remote, work-from-home position.

Compensation: Rate of pay starts at 9 cents per line (65-character lines, including template and spaces), with annual increases of 1/2 cent per line, up to a maximum of 11 cents per line.
