Position: Human Resources Intern

Location: Caroline Salton stall Building, Milton Academy Campus

Hours: Full-time with flexibility available

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Classification: Staff

Duration: Summer 2024 (with the potential for extension)

Milton Academy is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to support our Human Resources team, focusing primarily on recruiting and onboarding activities in preparation for the 2024-2025 academic year. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various HR administrative functions.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Onboarding Support: Assist in the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring a smooth onboarding experience.
  • Documentation Management: Review, approve, and track onboarding forms, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed accurately and timely. Maintain onboarding documents in the online applicant tracking system.
  • Background Checks: Process background checks on new hires, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to compliance standards.
  • Career Page Maintenance: Update and maintain the Milton Academy career page with current job openings and relevant information.
  • Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to the HR team as needed.
  • Project Work: Participate in HR initiatives and projects as assigned, potentially including editing job descriptions for consistency and clarity and revising policy and procedures manuals

 

Supervision to be received: Supervised by the Director of Human Resources.

 

Education/Certification/Licensure

Preferred: Currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program or recently completed a degree program.

 

Experience

Preferred: Prior experience in office administration or customer service.

  • Ability to learn and navigate new software solutions effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated computer expertise, including proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Desire to be a part of a dynamic educational community.

 

Physical Abilities

Required:

  • Must be able to work at a computer for up to 8 hours each day in conjunction with OSHA requirements.
  • Must be able to move around the Milton Academy campus without restriction.
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.
